The UN Green House (GOUNH) in Vietnam receives the Leadership in Sustainable Design and Operation Award, the category for the organization's headquarters, the World Green Work Council (WorldGBC) during the Ceremony for Asia-Pacific Green Work Award.
This award recognizes the iconic Green works, encourages the future innovations and leading companies are creating positive changes for a better future across the Asian –Pacific region.
The UN Green House (GOUNH) is inaugurated by the former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh in May 2015, when the UN agencies in Vietnam moved to work in the same office, then it is a part of the Uniform Initiative for Action.
The UN in Vietnam is one of the leading organizations in realizing a UN head office around the world. The new building is designed to respond to the environmental challenges which Vietnam shall face and reduce carbon emissions and is a symbol of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, the UN staff working here also implement Green behavior by reducing printing, replacing plastic products and using public transport.
