Materials testing before construction play an important role in ensuring the comprehensive quality of the building in terms of safety, aesthetics and engineering. From the beginning of 2021, Ecoba Vietnam cooperated with Haseko Japan to implement the program of Testing building materials according to BS, JIS, ASTM, AS and TCVN standards for high-rise apartment buildings. This cooperation is expected to bring new materials solutions that ensure international quality standards at optimal costs for investors.

Building material database for construction works

The laboratory at the Institute of Construction Science and Technology (IBST) is the venue for material experiments for high-rise buildings in the framework of cooperation between Ecoba Vietnam and Haseko Japan. In the laboratory, the evaluation of coating filmwaterproofing materials of engineers Ecoba and Haseko focused on standards such as Tensile performance test (JIS A 6021);  Crack- bridging ability test (BS EN 14891); Adhesion  test (BS EN 14891); Water permeability test (JIS A 1404). By performing these experiments, Ecoba and Haseko can build a material database for optimal quality and cost-effective material options for future high-rise projects.

Vietnam increasingly attracts FDI, up to 18.5% over the same period in the first quarter of 2020 (data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment). In particular, the construction industry is one of the areas that foreign investors penetrate with high-rise projects. Currently, in the construction market of Vietnam, for high-rise projects, the material evaluation criteria must ensure high performance in the following aspects: bearing strength and deformation. However, the material database is inadequate, making the proposal of ideas and the selection of suitable construction solutions face many shortcomings.

From the beginning of 2021, Ecoba Vietnam cooperated with Haseko Japan to implement the program of Testing building materials according to BS, JIS, ASTM, AS and TCVN standards for high-rise apartment buildings. In addition to the basic standards commonly applied to buildings in Vietnam, Ecoba and Haseko also apply high-end standards, including JIS and BS, usually only applied in projects of foreign investors. In the framework of the cooperation, the two sides have discussed and shared experiences on issues related to the use of building materials and evaluation criteria for some building materials in Japan and Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Quy, representative of Ecoba Vietnam shared: “Through the testing of materials for high-rise buildings of Ecoba and Haseko, we can build a complete database of materials for projects in the future. This database is also the premise for Ecoba to convince investors to apply qualified materials at optimal costs. That will help Ecoba develop its orientation to become a D&B general contractor and general contractor. ”
